Bonus Illustration Post: Watch tower

Any little sketches I do in pencil or such are usually enjoyed just by me and my close friends. However, I'd like to change that and share some fun drawings and concepts I thought everyone could enjoy !

Word of the Week #5 Wool

Hey Everyone! This weeks word was Wool! I had this idea to draw a ball of yarn in a very painterly style. :)

Word of the week # 4 Storm

Hey everyone, for this weeks word 'storm' I chose to a more abstract painterly style.

I started to sketch out my plans for this stormy scene and develop my ideas more .

Lightning is so amazing to see so I wanted to capture a bolt or two striking down on the skyline.

I didn't want to crowd the image because the focal point should be quite obvious after the concept is developed.

I took my idea and roughly sketched it digitally before I started going in depth.

I started to lay down the base colors and shading in a natural smooth stroke across the image.

The sky needed to contrast from the bolt itself , so I ended up coloring and shading around the rough area where I wanted to put the bolts in the sky.

I kept layering on colors to add depth and texture and started introducing oranges and took time to illustrate the sketchy jagged bolts.
I hope you enjoyed this word of the week! Stay tuned for more posts !

Word of the week #3 Wheel

Hey everyone, I would just like to say thank you for all the positive feedback and support !
I LOVE cars so I decided to use that theme for my illustration this week .
I was looking at some old pictures of cars I took in the summer and I saw this car and it inspired me this week.

I also took a picture I had of a friend's turbo cobalt and used that for an angle reference at first.

I started sketching my idea on paper for how I wanted the layout of the image; Offset looking from behind the driver side of the car.
I had a flashback of a picture I recalled from the summer of two of my friends Honda civics . It was everything I needed for what I wanted to achieve in this digital painting!
I got so into the painting I forgot to take screen captures to show the progress along the way >·
